Tax Clearance Certificates
Need assistance with Tax Clearance Certificates? An entity or person can apply of a SARS Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) if they have paid all their taxes and everything is up to date with SARS.
The certificate is a document given my SARS and is valid for 12 months. A tax clearance certificate is generally required by suppliers when opening up a new account and has become very important for businesses.
Some of our clients have also requested a tax clearance certificate before closing an account, to makes sure everything is in order and you can request such it anytime as well, to make sure that your accounting firm or accountant has you tax up to date. If you are requesting the tax clearance certificate for a tender, you need to provide the number as well.
The following conditions apply before applying for a tax clearance certificate:
1. You do need a tax number
2. Your tax needs to be paid up to date and cleared by SARS
3. Your tax number(s) need be active and not deactivated
4. Your entity name needs to be same as the name registered with SARS.
Under the new Tax Administration Act, this process can take up to 21 days to complete to get your Tax Clearance Certificate.
